The Castles

The Castles

Officially referred to as Eptapyrgio, the Castles are the fortified Acropolis of Thessaloniki, the eastern side of which once reached the White Tower. Passing the first gate, the Portara, you can see the highest point, the famous Genti Koule (meaning “seven towers”) which was used as a prison in the last century. Nearby, in addition to the breathtaking view, you can enjoy a “green breath” in the “Gardens of Pasha”, as the large park opposite the eastern walls is called.
