Descending to the center

Either on foot or by cultural bus, go down the road next to the eastern fortification, to meet on your right the house where Kemal Ataturk was born and today is the Turkish consulate of the city. Crossing the west side of the campus, you can reach another of the important sights of the city, the Rotunda, the circular building that was intended as a mausoleum of Galerius, but was turned into a temple. Today, it functions as a Museum and has been included in the list of Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki that UNESCO has named as World Cultural Heritage.
