Roman Agora

Crossing Egnatia, above Aristotelous Square, you will find the Roman Agora, the center of every activity in Thessaloniki during the Roman years. At the junction of Egnatia and Venizelos you will find the Alcazar, a 15th century Muslim monument that is finally being restored, while a little further north you will find the “most beautiful market in the Balkans, as Bezesteni was characterized in the 6th century. Above the Ancient Agora dominates the imposing building of the Governor’s Office (today the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace), with many ancient finds in its square.
